Gemma Jones
Attends InterAct Bournemouth

‘As a parent of a child with some mild to moderate learning difficulties and a medical condition, I feel, through InterAct, she is being offered the same oppoertunities and experience of dance, drama and singing that her peers, without special needs, have, but in a safe, caring, appropriate and caring environment without prejudice. It’s wonderful.

At InterAct she is motivated and encouraged to enjoy and explore expressing herself with affirmation from the staff. She is encouraged to contribute as she is able and I believe she feels accepted and valued.

I was amazed at the end of year performance last summer, not just at the songs, dance and drama the staff had managed to teach the children but to see the sheer enjoyment that these young people, of varying abilities and difficulties, had experienced through the preparation, planning and performance. It was a marvellous achievement and commendation to the staff who contributed at the time.

It seemed the young people had a sense of belonging and felt very much ‘a part.’ In fact when I take and collect her it feels like a little family between staff and the young people attending.’

Mrs Sue Jones (Gemma’s mum)
